Migrants
We fight to defend migrant rights and to build a multiethnic society, integrated and respectful of diversities.
Migrations are not “mere” movements of individuals or groups of people but they are the result of unequal economic developments, distance between wealthy and poor zones of the world, wars.
The multiethnic society is an unavoidable step rather than a choice… the challenge consists in creating an inclusive system, in order to include and integrate people.
For this reason we are engaged in the defence of individual rights of migrants, displaced people, refugees, asylum seekers: to create ways to foster the social inclusion - respecting the diversities - the exchange and the public debate among people living on the national territory.
CISS concretely worked and still works in the field of immigrant and intercultural services and it is regularly registered at the first division of the Register of associations and authorities which act in favour of immigrants under the art. 54 of the DPR (Act of the President of the Republic) 31 August 1999, n. 394 (Number of registration A/321/2004/PA). In these years, CISS has realized both self-financed and voluntary activities and projects funded by local authorities and the European Union.
In September 2006, the city of Palermo has entrusted CISS the management of the Intercultural Training Centre within the programme for the realization of an integrated system of interventions and social services, in order to carry out the Piano di Zona del DSS 42 (Area Plan of Security and Health Document 42).
